Fusion

Fusion is the high school ministry of Black Rock Congregation Church in Fairfield, CT. Eight years ago, Fusion came into existence to reach students with the love of Christ. God has blessed this ministry as we have seen numerous students come to know Christ and live for Him.

Fusion consists of a group of leaders and students who are seeking to make an impact in the world with the love of Christ. Fusion’s identity is found in community, The Word of God, service and living out authentic lives.

Fusion's ministry consists of a lot of parts that make up the entire ministry. Below is our purpose and philosophy, we have listed and briefly explained each part of the ministry.

Purpose

To see students become faithful followers of Christ.
Over the last few years, the High School Ministry has developed the Reach, Connect, Equip and Multiply philosophy. Everything the High School Ministry does incorporates at least one of these areas. We will not do any event or program just to have fun. We do it because it has a purpose.

Philosophy

Reach the Crowd We seek to welcome new people into Fusion. Anybody that walks through our doors is considered our friend and we purposefully seek them out and encourage them to meet new people. We want students to feel welcomed and loved as they come into Fusion. Our outreach events and some of our Fusion Wednesday Nights are geared toward Reaching the Crowd.

Connect the Community

We firmly believe in including all people that come to Fusion. By meeting new people and building friendships, they are Connecting to the Community. What is Community? It is people with a Common Unity. We share the common unity of knowing how Christ redeemed us by his and resurrection. Tuesday night Fusion, Impact (Sunday School), and DGroups (Small Groups) connect the community.

Equip the Committed

Those who are Committed to the ministry are further equipped to minister to and serve their peers. The main way we Equip the Committed is through CORE Team. This is our student ministry team. We also equip students through small groups and missions trips.

Multiply the Core

In the High School Ministry, students who are equipped have the opportunity to invest in others. We want more our core students reaching, connecting, and equipping other students. Students who are doing each of these with other students are Multiplying the Core.

Fusion Tuesday Nights --Our main program is called Fusion. Every Tuesday night we meet together as the entire youth group. Over 70 students come out on a regular basis to Fusion. Fusion meets from 7:27-9:10pm in the church lobby & Woodruff at Black Rock Church. At Fusion we start with a time to hang out and meet new students and friends. Students play ping pong, basketball and hangout for the first 15 minutes.  Some nights we play some crazy and wacky games. Everyone takes part in these fun and crazy games. We then enter our youth worship area. This room is filled with murals on the walls and all sorts of lights. Our youth worship band leads everyone in some of the of the latest worship songs. Here we try to incorporate many different styles of worship. Then there is a 20 to 25 minute teaching relating to teenagers lives and what it means to live for Christ. The night concludes with 30 minutes of small groups and discussion groups.

Dgroups

Small groups are a major part of the ministry of Fusion. We believe that students will grow and be ministered to best in small groups where they have deep relationships with others. After students have started to come to Fusion, we encourage them to get involved in a small group. These groups are lead by a leader and consist of 4-6 students. The groups meet each night at Fusion and also twice a month, at times when leaders and students can get together. This year each group is studying a book of the Bible.

Operation Opportunity

Operation Opportunity is a project that will bring aid to a village in the Dominican Republic. Alongside World Vision, Fusion will find creative ways to supply the village with school supplies to help improve the education; and money for an irrigation system to be put in. There will be many different kinds of projects and creative activities for students to participate in to help raise a goal of $25,000. This project is not to be considered a fund raiser.  Fusion will work to educate the youth about the leading causes of poverty and how it is affecting the people of the Dominican Republic. Our hope is that students will begin the habit of thinking about the suffering world and how they can help to change it.

Impact-Sunday School

On Sunday morning we have Impact. This is our Sunday School hour. During the 10:10am service. Impact takes place in Woodruff Hall. To begin we have a time to hang out. We then have a group game. The majority of the time is committed to studying the Bible. Students sit at table and discuss Biblical topics and interact with the passage and their own life.

Fusion Prayer

God calls us to pray for Fusion to develop into what God wants it to be. Therefore we need to be people who pray. Every Tueday night, from 7:00-7:15pm students meet to begin our night in prayer. Students pray for each other and the entire ministry of Fusion.

Retreats

Every year Fusion takes two retreats. We take the students away for the entire weekend to experience God and get away from the normal way of life. Retreats are not just a time to have fun, but we see these retreats as one of the greatest opportunities to bring the students to know and serve Christ. Our fall retreat takes place near the end of September and our winter retreat happens in early February.

CORE Team

The CORE Team is for students who are highly committed to seeing God do great things through Fusion. They have servants hearts and desire to lead and serve their God. This team meets at least once a month to plan and pray for Fusion.

Missions Trips

Every summer we offer students the opportunity to go on a domestic and international trip. There are several requirements for these trips and it takes a lot of preparation. We have seen many students changed on these trips, as they serve Christ with their lives.

MERGE

This is a conference we go to in Baltimore every year. We take a bus load of students to learn how their story MERGES with God's story. This is the most impacting and exciting week of the year for students. We encourage all students who want to learn how to love God more to go on MERGE.

Martha Projects

The Martha Project is a ministry where students are given the opportunity to serve the Black Rock congregation and the local community. We feel that it is very important for students to see that God has called His followers to meet the needs of others. Every few months we follow God’s call to go into the community and to serve others.

Activities

Every month Fusion has a weekend activity. These activities all fit into our philosophy, from Friday Frenzy (an all nighter where students bring their friends) to a Martha project to Double Dare (a fun night for the family).
